Google has recently launched a new product called the Google Workspace. This entire platform is free, allowing you to use Gmail, Google Docs, and similar services with less hassle. Some of the ways this can benefit your productivity are running office apps offline so that you can edit documents using Gmail where cell service may not be consistent and changing between different programs effortlessly without having to save files for later use. The software is beta and may not always work, but if you want to get all the advantages of using Google Docs desktop apps with little to no downside then this might be a great choice for you. You don’t have to be a genius to get started with Google’s Office-as-a-service suite. There’s a straightforward set of steps that makes getting started easy: open Google at work, sign in and create an account, then proceed through accordion menus. Google requires that all participating companies allow employees to search, organize and store files in Google’s new system but don’t filter any content. Working on a computer long-distance is impractical, but there are some quirks that make that impossible for the time being. Using SSH to connect to your work computer makes it possible to work on any computer and never have to worry about not being able to get back into your accounts. Even though Google’s computers are more stable than most, they do sometimes crash and you find yourself in a bind without anything but 1Password. The “primary window” works as an organized workspace, while all of the others work as focus windows. With this system, it is easier to concentrate on what one is doing without having a lot of windows that cover the area of the window. Google’s new balance is a refresh, even if it takes more resources to press a button. Google wants people to create their own workspace that offers a degree of customization and interconnectivity.
