Google announced recently that it’s making it easier for users to explore related topics. Currently, Google only has a few filters for you to refine and separate your search results between videos, news, images or shopping results. Now, the search giant will show you a list of related topics along with its current filters at the top of the search results page. This feature makes it easier to narrow down or widen results by filtering keywords.
The new scrollable list in your search makes it easy to narrow down what you’re looking for. For example, if you’re searching for dinner ideas, you can choose “healthy” or “easy” on the list pop up at the bottom of your screen. You’ll be able to see all of the filters you’ve selected after tapping one, and won’t have to worry about forgetting what you wanted to find. You can also add or remove topics from your search!
Topics change as you tap in order to give you new options and help you explore new areas. For example, if you tapped on a “healthy” filter, you might see “vegetarian” or “quick” next. The changes will be available for American English users soon.
“When you conduct a search, our systems will automatically display relevant topics for you based off of what we understand about how people search, and analyze content across the web,” Google explained in a blog post. “Both topics and filters are shown in the order that our systems automatically determine is most helpful to answer your query. If you don’t see a particular filter you want, you can find more using the ‘All filters’ option, which is available at the bottom of each row.”
Google just announced the expansion of a feature they’ve had on mobile devices for a while, Continuous Scrolling. This feature allows you to search right from the results page rather than having to navigate through multiple pages to get what you need.
