Some of your most-used apps on your device might be buried in the bottom-right corner of your homescreen. If you’re tired of waiting for their turn to receive the Material You makeover, but you want more casual users to see them, try a new Material You contact widget instead.
You can now create dedicated single contact or direct dial widgets in the Contacts widget. With the update, all you need to do is choose between three options! These include contact profiles, phone numbers, and messages, so now your digital address book just became a lot more efficient.
Google has debuted a new widget on the Google Contacts app that has rounded corners and Material You shape. The profile image is cropped to fit inside the square, as are all of the shortcuts, with two shortcuts placed on either side of it.
Multiple contact widgets exist on the homescreen, but this new widget might change that. With it, you can select a single contact and drag it anywhere to create a custom homescreen widget with all of your contacts.
However, as noted by 9To5Google, once you select a contact, the Pixel Launcher crashes. As mentioned, this new widget has appeared in the Google Contacts app version 3.80.24.x and should be available to all users, including Samsung smartphone users, in the coming weeks.
