The google chat we all know is beautiful. For example, an easy way to manage conversations is using the app’s mute feature. However, with that luxury comes a few annoyances. Chat transcripts can be difficult to parse quickly and sorting out conversation threads can be daunting. In this post, my co-author and I provide some tips and tricks for maximizing your Google Chat experience!

– Enter your Google Chat username and password into the login screen on your phone.

– If you’re using iOS, open the Settings app and select “Phone.” In the “Accounts” section, tap “Add New Account.” Paste in your Google Chat username and password, then tap “Next.”

Select “Chat Features” and toggle on “Send Audio/Video.” On iOS, tap the three lines in the top right of the chat screen to open the settings menu. Tap “Chat Features,” then toggle on “Send Audio/Video.”

Simply open a new chat window and type @gmail.com , followed by your email address (note the space in between). Gmail will automatically connect to the last chat that was had on your phone. You can also open a chat window by going to www.google.com/chat or by clicking the menu button on a web page and selecting “Chat” from the drop-down list.
