Ahh, websites that make you think twice about whether or not you should visit them. A few weeks ago, I was reading through some of my old tech site newsletters from the last year and re-read something that I found really unprofessional. It turned out to be a blog post for an eBook company that centered about their website getting flagged for violating Google’s TOS; it seemed shortsighted on their part. Continuing to read, the article gave me a few general directions to follow in order to keep your web traffic as spam-free as possible. The developer of Google Chrome’s Keyboard has introduced a new tool called Delete Key. With this, you can remove websites that you either hate or don’t use frequently. Conclusion
In the past, getting rid of websites was hard. However, you can do it with Google Keyboard and a few settings on your browser. To get rid of a website that you hate in Google Keyboard, go to File -> Switch Browser (this is in the small gear icon next to search bar). When prompted by your browser, click “Yes”, then copy and paste the domain from your address bar into the search field box. Now change the URL in the “Sites” section below to an empty one. Don’t forget to Ctrl+D for the easy duckduckgo search (of course, if you have the images turned off, you may have to Ctrl+F to access DuckDuckGo if you don’t know its shortcut). Switching your domain or visiting an empty site removes that page from your address bar’s bookmarks.
